Omnixol BX Odor Neutralizer Instructions for Use

Omnixol BX Odor Neutralizer is used to neutralize unpleasant organic odors in rooms as well as on suitable surfaces and textiles.

BX can be used both independently as an odor neutralizer and as a final follow-up treatment after prior cleaning.

A special rule applies in cases of heating oil, diesel or mineral oil contamination: If relevant oil or diesel contamination is still present within the material, the actual source of the contamination must first be treated. BX is then used for the subsequent odor treatment.

Omnixol BX for neutralizing unpleasant odors in rooms, on surfaces and textiles

1. When Is Omnixol BX Used?

Omnixol BX is suitable for treating unpleasant organic odors in a wide range of applications.

BX can be used either directly for odor neutralization or after a previous cleaning process.

Its use is therefore not generally dependent on a previous oil or diesel incident.

Typical applications include:

  • living areas and basements
  • heating and utility rooms
  • vehicle interiors
  • suitable textile surfaces and upholstery
  • suitable mineral surfaces
  • rooms affected by general organic odors
  • former heating oil tank rooms after cleaning
  • areas following diesel or oil cleaning

2. How Does Omnixol BX Work?

Omnixol BX works according to a bioactive or microbial principle. The aim is to break down accessible organic odor-causing substances and thereby neutralize unpleasant odors.

This distinguishes BX from products that merely mask unpleasant odors with a stronger fragrance.

BX can be used for general odor problems as well as after cleaning when unwanted residual odors remain.

3. Preparation Before Application

Before application, loose dirt should be removed and the areas to be treated should be accessible for spray application.

For even application, we recommend:

  • removing loose dirt
  • cleaning heavily soiled surfaces beforehand where necessary
  • ensuring adequate ventilation
  • testing sensitive or unknown materials in an inconspicuous area first

If there is only an odor problem without relevant contamination or soiling, prior deep cleaning is not required.

4. Apply Omnixol BX as a Fine Spray

Omnixol BX is applied as a fine and even spray mist to suitable surfaces or into the affected area.

The surface should be treated evenly. Heavy saturation is not required.

BX is not applied with a roller or brush, but as a fine spray.

Suitable application equipment includes:

  • fine spray bottle
  • pressure sprayer
  • suitable spray equipment for larger areas

5. Use Undiluted or Diluted

Depending on the application, Omnixol BX can be used undiluted or diluted with water.

For diluted applications, BX can be mixed with water at a ratio of up to 1 : 2.

For stronger odor contamination, use a correspondingly more concentrated solution.

6. Odor Contamination in Rooms

Odors may not only be noticeable at a single location, but can spread throughout a room and also adhere to adjacent suitable surfaces.

BX can therefore be applied as a fine and even spray within the affected area or onto suitable surfaces.

It remains important that an active and removable source of odor is not simply left untreated.

Special case of oil and diesel contamination: clean the contamination first and then treat remaining odors with Omnixol BX

7. Special Case: Oil and Diesel Contamination

Actual heating oil, diesel or mineral oil contamination requires a different approach from general odor contamination.

If oil or diesel is still present within the substrate, upholstery or another material, the actual contamination must be treated first.

BX is then used if odor contamination remains after cleaning.

Allow to Dry Completely After Cleaning

After oil or diesel cleaning, cleaning residues are removed and the treated surfaces are allowed to dry sufficiently.

Only then can it be properly assessed whether significant residual odor contamination remains.

Once the actual contamination has been treated, BX can be applied as a fine spray for subsequent odor neutralization.

Which Cleaner Is Used First?

  • For contaminated concrete, screed, masonry or plaster, deep cleaning is carried out with Omnixol FX100 .
  • For contaminated textiles, upholstery and vehicle interiors, Omnixol CX80 is used.
Important: This prior cleaning is only required if oil or diesel contamination is actually still present. For general odor contamination, Omnixol BX can be used independently.

8. Allow to Act and Dry

After spraying, BX remains on the treated surface and is not immediately washed off.

Ensure adequate ventilation during and after application and allow the treated areas to dry completely.

The result of the odor neutralization should ideally only be assessed after complete drying.

9. Can the Treatment Be Repeated?

If necessary, BX treatment can be repeated after complete drying.

If a noticeable odor remains, it should also be checked whether the actual source of the odor has been fully identified and treated.

Particularly after oil or diesel contamination, a persistently strong odor may indicate that contamination remains, for example in masonry, screed, insulation material, upholstery or concealed building components.

10. What BX Does Not Replace in Oil and Diesel Incidents

Omnixol BX neutralizes odors, but if oil or diesel contamination is still present, it does not replace the necessary cleaning of the affected material.

BX should therefore not be used as the sole measure in the following situations:

  • visible heating oil or diesel stains
  • liquid or free-standing oil
  • heavily oil-saturated concrete or screed
  • oil-contaminated masonry
  • upholstery or carpets saturated with diesel

In these cases, the contamination is treated first and BX is subsequently used if odor contamination remains.

11. Safety Information

Suitable protective measures should be observed according to the specific working conditions.

  • avoid eye contact
  • use suitable protective gloves
  • do not deliberately inhale spray mist
  • ensure good ventilation during large-area application
  • observe the current safety data sheet

In cases involving oil or diesel contamination, the additional protective measures required due to the original contamination must also be observed.

BX Application – Quick Summary

  1. Identify the source of the odor or the affected area.
  2. Remove loose dirt if necessary.
  3. Depending on the application, use BX undiluted or dilute it with water up to 1:2.
  4. Apply BX as a fine and even spray to suitable surfaces or into the affected area.
  5. Do not unnecessarily saturate the surfaces.
  6. Allow BX to act and let the treated areas dry completely.
  7. Reassess the odor only after drying.
  8. Repeat the application if necessary.
For oil or diesel contamination: If relevant contamination is still present within the material, it must first be treated with FX100 or CX80. BX is then used for the subsequent odor treatment.

BX within the Omnixol Two-Step System

In cases of heating oil and mineral oil contamination, the actual cleaning process and the subsequent odor treatment are deliberately separated.

Oil contamination within mineral substrates is first treated with Omnixol FX100. After cleaning and drying have been completed, Omnixol BX can be used as the second step if residual odors remain.

This Two-Step System applies specifically to oil and mineral oil contamination and does not mean that BX requires prior FX100 treatment for every general odor problem.

Questions About Odor Neutralization?

If you are unsure how best to use Omnixol BX for your particular odor problem, we are happy to help you assess the most suitable approach.

In cases involving oil or diesel contamination, information about the cause of the damage, the affected material, cleaning measures already carried out and, where possible, a few photos are helpful.
