Omnixol CX80 Concentrate Instructions for Use

Omnixol CX80 Concentrate was developed for cleaning textiles, upholstery, carpets and suitable surfaces contaminated with oil and diesel.

Particularly in vehicle interiors, diesel or other mineral oil products can penetrate deeply into textile materials. Surface wiping is often insufficient because the contamination may be located within the fibers and upholstery.

These instructions describe the recommended procedure for thorough deep cleaning with Omnixol CX80.

Diesel and oil can penetrate deeply into textile fibers and upholstery

Oil and Diesel Often Penetrate Deeper into the Material

In upholstery, carpets and vehicle interiors, oil or diesel contamination often does not remain only on the visible surface.

Liquid mineral oil products can penetrate between the fibers and partly into underlying upholstery or insulation materials.

The cleaning solution must therefore reach the actually contaminated areas and then be removed from the material together with the mobilized residues.

1. Applications of Omnixol CX80

Omnixol CX80 is particularly suitable for textile and absorbent materials into which oil, diesel or related odor contamination has penetrated.

  • vehicle seats and upholstery
  • vehicle carpets
  • trunk linings
  • textile floor mats
  • carpets
  • upholstered furniture
  • other suitable textile surfaces

Typical applications include spilled diesel containers, fuel residues in the trunk or oil and diesel contamination on textile surfaces.

2. Test Material Compatibility and Colorfastness

Before large-area application, Omnixol CX80 should first be tested in an inconspicuous area.

In particular, check:

  • colorfastness of the material
  • changes to the surface
  • compatibility of adhesives or coatings
  • behavior of sensitive or unknown materials

The entire surface should only be treated if no undesirable changes are visible.

3. Preparation

Before CX80 treatment, loose dirt should be removed and any free-standing liquid residues should be completely absorbed.

For Freshly Spilled Diesel or Oil

If free fuel is still present on or within the material, it should first be absorbed as completely as possible. The actual CX80 treatment is then carried out on the remaining contaminated material.

Vacuum Textiles

Dust, sand and other loose dirt should first be removed with a vacuum cleaner. This allows the cleaning solution to penetrate the fibers more evenly.

4. How to Mix Omnixol CX80 Correctly

For cleaning upholstery, carpets and other suitable textiles, Omnixol CX80 is mixed with water at a ratio of 1 : 10.

Warm water is recommended where possible.

This means: ten parts water are added to one part CX80 Concentrate.

CX80 Concentrate Water Working Solution
100 ml 1 liter approx. 1.1 liters
500 ml 5 liters approx. 5.5 liters
1 liter 10 liters approx. 11 liters

5. Work CX80 into the Material

The working solution should not simply be sprayed onto the surface. It must reach the areas of the textile that are actually contaminated.

Apply the solution evenly and carefully work it into the material using a suitable brush or other suitable tool.

Heavily contaminated areas must be sufficiently wetted.

For upholstery, enough working solution should be used to reach the contaminated fibers. However, unnecessary complete saturation of deeper upholstery layers should be avoided.

Application Step by Step

  1. Mix CX80 at a ratio of 1:10 with preferably warm water.
  2. Apply the working solution evenly to the contaminated area.
  3. Carefully work the solution into the textile material.
  4. Sufficiently wet heavily contaminated areas.
  5. Then observe the recommended contact time.
Allowing Omnixol CX80 to act within the treated textile for approximately four to five hours

6. Allow 4 to 5 Hours of Contact Time

After working it into the material, Omnixol CX80 should be allowed to act for approximately 4 to 5 hours.

During this time, the cleaning solution remains within the treated material and loosens or mobilizes the oil- and diesel-containing residues.

The treated area should not be used or extracted prematurely during this time.

7. Remove the Cleaning Solution with a Wet Vacuum or Extraction Cleaner

After the contact time, the cleaning solution within the textile must be removed thoroughly.

A wet vacuum or extraction cleaner is best suited for this purpose.

This removes the loosened residues together with the cleaning solution from the fibers and upholstery.

  1. Extract the treated area slowly and evenly.
  2. Pass over heavily contaminated areas several times.
  3. Remove as much liquid from the material as possible.
  4. If necessary, rinse with clean water and extract again.

Thorough extraction is particularly important for heavily padded seats or carpets so that as little moisture as possible remains in the material.

8. Allow to Dry Completely and Assess the Result

After cleaning, the treated material must be allowed to dry completely.

Ensure good ventilation and sufficient air circulation. In a vehicle, doors or the trunk may remain open during the drying phase provided this can be done safely and under weather-protected conditions.

Only after complete drying can it be reliably assessed whether any significant odor contamination remains.

9. Is a Second Treatment Necessary?

For many types of contamination, one thorough treatment is sufficient.

For deeply penetrated diesel or heavily contaminated upholstery, a second treatment may be necessary after complete drying.

Before repeating the treatment, first check whether the remaining odor actually originates from the treated material or whether fuel has also entered areas beneath trim panels, insulation materials or adjacent components.

10. Follow-Up Treatment with Omnixol BX Odor Neutralizer

After CX80 cleaning has been completed and the material has dried completely, Omnixol BX Odor Neutralizer can be used if slight residual odor contamination remains.

BX is used for the final odor treatment.

Important: BX does not replace the actual cleaning of a surface contaminated with diesel or oil. If fuel is still present within the material, the contamination itself must first be treated.

11. Special Considerations for Vehicle Cleaning

If diesel has spilled inside a vehicle, it is important to determine how far the fuel has actually spread.

In the trunk, for example, diesel may pass through the carpet into underlying insulation mats, the spare wheel well or trim components. Cleaning only the visible carpet surface would not be sufficient in this case.

Where possible, affected inserts, mats and trim components should be removed and treated separately. This provides better access to the actual source of the contamination.

12. Safety Information

Suitable protective measures should be observed during application according to the specific working conditions.

  • use suitable protective gloves
  • avoid eye contact
  • ensure good ventilation
  • avoid open flames and ignition sources when dealing with diesel or fuel contamination
  • ensure adequate ventilation of treated materials during drying
  • observe the current safety data sheet
